GCash and Huawei Launch First-Ever Wearable Payment Innovation in the Philippines

As more Filipinos turn to faster, more convenient ways to pay, GCash continues to push the boundaries of digital finance through its latest partnership with Huawei—introducing Watch Pay, the country’s first wearable payment solution.

With Watch Pay, users can now make secure, hands-free payments straight from their Huawei smartwatch. By linking their GCash account to a compatible device, they can instantly generate a QR code directly on the watch—no need to reach for a phone or wallet.

The QR code can be scanned by any merchant using a point-of-sale system with Business Scan Consumer technology, allowing for quick and secure transactions.

This partnership also highlights GCash’s focus on compatibility and user security. GCash Payment Innovations Head Dani Gil Librojo recently joined the Huawei Developer Conference in Dongguan, China, reinforcing both brands’ commitment to expanding their collaboration. Today, 7 million Huawei smartwatch users in the Philippines can access QR payments through this innovation.
